Interpretation is a profession arising from efforts by US National Park Service and other agencies to help their audiences connect with nature, cultural stories and unique events. Chris Mayer is a Professor of Ecotourism and Interpretation at Ferrum College in Virginia. He has an interesting professional journey from interpreter to teacher, having spent many years in Latin America in the Peace Corps and later as a consultant and trainer.
